The Twin Evil of Corruption

Corruption is a corrosive act that eventually cause irreparable damage to both society and the corrupt and the corrupted. Corruption is notably a menace that sets rut into wherever it occurs; and can be categorized further in terms of the means, the motives, the ends, and the scale on its occurrences. Whether it is Petty individual, Bureaucratic, Criminal and or Political, corruption includes behaviors that may take place either on the street or in the back office or Boardrooms.

A number of behaviors may cut across all categories of corruption mentioned, reflecting the wide variety in level of gains, means and actors involved. Ab initio, beneficiaries of corruption are normally unaware of the twin evil of the mental anguish depriving society of much needed social services; and the fact that they end up being traumatized by guilt of conspicuous amalgamation of illicit and unexplained wealth.

The origin of corruption is unknown but its evil nature was long identified as of the beginning of time. Corruption has ably been identified as the root cause of underdevelopment and yet people knowingly indulge it various act acts of corruption for personal gains. Every political machine fighting to take state power will have an anticorruption agenda on their governance platform. Unfortunately, even those with strong corporate backgrounds are soon seeing wallowing in corruption and this scenario is replete across the globe but worse in the least developed countries.  While First World countries are preventing, investigating and prosecuting Boardroom corruption; most of the other countries are still battling petty corruption as low as thievery in government agencies.
